Paint Away, Oh Lord!

I am in the hands of my Heavenly Artist, who created me and is perfecting me, His masterpiece, everyday. Some days I feel like I’m a blank canvas, clean and ready to be painted upon. Other days, well, it seems as though I am just all mucked up with dark and ugly colors and I just need Him to paint over the whole mess and start over! But see, I can’t see the Artist’s perspective. I am the painting. All I can do is trust that He is continually perfecting me with every stroke of the brush, every splatter, every layer, with any mixture of colors He desires.

He promises me ‘that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.’ (Romans 8:28)

He also says that I am “God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us (me) to do.’ (Ephesians 2:10)

So, I think I’m finally submitting to His artistry. As much as I know how to do today, that is. Submitting to the skillful hand of the Artist, to let Him do it the way He desires and allow Him to make me what He wants me to be. It will happen one way or another, but I believe the process will be far less painful and more enjoyable and freeing with a submitted heart- rather than one that continually rejects the application of paint to my canvas.

So, have at me, Holy Artist. I’ll try not to give you any suggestions (like, please apply a lot of red, which is my favorite color! Ha ha!) I do have a feeling I’ll be covered with lots of red, because I am covered by the blood of Jesus!

But of course, the goal is not just to look pretty. It’s to be useful, to do the good works which He prepared in advance for me to do. To glorify Him!  So, one good work He has prepared for me to do in this season of my life, I believe, is to blog. It’s a wonderful way to lift Him up. To point others to the Savior. To be an instrument of praise. To give back to Him that which He freely gave me…which is His unconditional and eternal love! (And the color of love is….??? See? I knew it!)

This blog is all for you, my Lord. And if a cloud of witnesses (maybe one or two more) are drawn to you through the words You give me, than that will be one or two more blessings to thank you for! But you are my number one fan, and I thank you that you will never stop following or pursuing me!

So here we go, Lord. You and me together….and whomever else wants to join us!

IT’S PAINTING TIME!
